bride and groom walking down the street in Gastown Vancouver

In August, I travelled to Vancouver to photograph my cousin’s wedding. The thought of capturing such an important day for a family member was both exciting and nerve-wracking. As a photographer, I am always searching for ways to improve my skills and grow in my craft. This experience was no different.

The wedding was an intimate affair, with only immediate family and a close friend in attendance. This made the atmosphere even more special and allowed me to really focus on capturing the love and emotions present throughout the day. The day started off at the hotel with Brianne and her family and then over to their home where Shane was hanging out with his family.

The VanDusen Botanical Gardens provided a stunning backdrop for the ceremony, with its lush greenery and vibrant flowers. I found myself getting lost in the beauty of the surroundings, trying to capture every detail in my photos.

After the ceremony, we headed to Gastown for cocktails at the couple’s favourite bar. The laid-back vibe of the neighborhood was the perfect setting for some candid shots of the newlyweds mingling and a few beautiful ones of them around Gastown and my favourite alleyways.

The day ended with a decadent dinner at Boulevard in downtown Vancouver where beautiful, heartfelt speeches were delivered and tears were flowing.

I am so grateful to Brianne and Shane for having me out in Vancouver to photograph their special day. I have such a love for Vancouver and I hope to get to photograph another wedding out there again.

Congratulations to my beautiful cousin and her husband Shane!
