Nicole Ouellette, a really fabulous wedding planner in Ottawa, contacted me a little over a month ago asking if I would be willing to photograph a very special proposal. Her friend Catherine’s fabulous boyfriend Ryan was planning to propose in an extra special way, and Nicole felt that I would be perfect to capture the moment.
Ryan and Catherine met when they were young and living next door to one another in Napanee. Catherine was living with her grandmother at the time and she and Ryan became inseparable. They eventually lost touch when Catherine moved away but reconnected on Facebook years later and have been inseparable, yet again, ever since!
Ryan wanted to make Catherine’s proposal extra special by planning a family photo session as a decoy to the real deal. Given that Ryan’s family, including his son, were in Napanee and Catherine’s parents weren’t far from there either, it only made sense that we meet in Napanee for the session.
Once in Napanee, Catherine and her mother were both blindfolded and lead to a surprise location, not knowing where they were being taken and what was about to happen. Surrounded by family, with Catherine’s grandmother’s ring in hand, at her grandmother’s former home where they met, in the very spot where they used to camp out together, Ryan and his son got down on one knee and asked her to marry them. It was pure perfection in every way. See for yourself below 🙂
The new owners of Catherine’s grandmother’s home left them a little champagne on the porch as a congratulations. What a nice touch 🙂
Could NOT be happier for these two and more honoured to have been part of such a special day. Ryan, you are KEEPER and I know every women in the world can appreciate just how special you have made Catherine feel. Congrats you two xoxo
Awww! This one got me all choked up Ashley!
