There are days I wake up riddled with self-doubt, worry, and fear that I’m just not good enough. I worry about taking this leap without being able to see what will come of it. I’m at a crossroads at which I need to seriously consider leaving my full time job to actively pursue my dream of being a wedding photographer, but what if? What if it doesn’t work out? It’s already happened without even noticing –  I’m booked for more weddings than ever before.

Still, I have to wonder what makes me stand out from every other photographer out there who is just as talented, if not MORE talented. Why would someone choose to hire me over someone with more experience, more knowledge, more edge.

In the end, it all comes down to one thing.

I am me.

  • I’m forever a camp girl, a music festival junkie, and an aspiring world traveler.
  • I’m addicted to lip chap, a good cup of tea, and yoga.
  • My goal in life is to be cozy – 24/7.
  • I’m an only child. And while I always wished for a sibling to play with as a kid (and not my imaginary friend named “Anne”), I am more independent as a result.
  • Cooking – what used to be a daunting task is now somewhat enjoyable. Only if my husband does the dishes afterwards, though.
  • I prefer flats over heels, chocolate over chips, and nights in over nights out.
  • I love to dream big, live to take chances, and believe that there is more to life than what is just at the surface.

2014 has already proven to have a lot of unknowns in store…but what I do know is that I’m excited. Already I have 12 amazing couples whose love I get to watch unfold and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of their day in such a big way. I love what I do. You could take away the extravagantly styled venue, beautiful floral arrangements and stunning wedding dress and still be left with the most amazing part of it all – pure, undeniable love. Every time I have to stop myself from tearing up when couples are vowing to love each other forever and always, and every time my heart smiles when I realize I am capturing this moment in time.

So yes, I’m scared. Yes, I worry. But without fears to overcome, life would be so simple. Without those fears, I would never have the opportunity to meet all of these amazing people I have met along the way. I wouldn’t get to do what I love.

I leave you with this golden nugget I came across on Pinterest that sums it all up for me and is the reason I do what I do.

Fear

Stay cozy (and dream big!), friends xo

    Love this! Great honestly.

You have yourself to offer, as well as your skills. Honestly, personality in a photographer makes such a difference on the big day. You have such a peaceful, fun personality that I can imagine would make such a wonderful impact on a wedding day.
