Oh mannnnnn…this fall wedding at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa was a dream! Every little detail of this day was perfection from start to finish. It even threatened something like 10mm of rain all day and yet somehow we got away with just a light mist here and there. And honestly, that cloud cover during the day is every photographers dream…although I do appreciate the challenge of finding beautiful and interesting light in the middle of a bright sunny day.
This wedding was near and dear to my heart because Matt, the groom, is one of my best friends’ brothers. The older, more elusive brother, who used to come and go while we sat around the house watching tv, eating junk food. I secretly thought he was so dreamy and cool. Although in high school, you think all the older brothers are cool. Especially when you don’t have a brother of your own to look out for you. My friend Dana just had a baby (I say “just” but Baby G turned ONE YEAR OLD yesterday, what the whaaat?!), and I think the first thing I said was: “She looks like Matt”. And I still say it. These cute genes run in the family.
Anyways, I digress. I met the girls at the Lord Elgin Hotel where they were putting the finishing touches on hair and makeup before getting dressed!
This dress required a lot of hard work on the part of the bridesmaids…thankfully mom was there to hold the veil out of the way!
Over at the bride and groom’s condo in Westboro, the groom and best man were getting ready. Of course the prep required here is way less of a production!
Once the bride and groom were ready to rock, we met at the Museum of Nature for their first look. It had just started to mist when we got Matt into position but Beta braved the rain and went to meet her man anyways!
With lots of time for photos before the ceremony, we cruised around the beautiful Museum of Nature on this perfect fall day.
Gah you guys are too much! Love, love!
You might recall their engagement session at the Museum of History this spring (lots of museums in the mix). They were all class then, and so much more class now.
Once it had started drizzling a little bit more, we headed indoors for some photos with the wedding party in tow. These gals clean up nice!
So do these guys!
Ok, so wait until you see the gorgeous set up from Wedecor…especially behind that white curtain into the reception. It is KILLER. They left no detail behind. But first, the ceremony!
Like, come ON! Wedecor, you nailed this. So, so pretty! Also, those little favour boxes are filled with delicious chocolate dipped baklava. As a thank you, I got a LARGE container to myself that I destroyed in like two days. I am eating for two after all…?
There was a lot of Persian music this evening, starting with the bride and groom’s grand entrance. Epic.
Speeches were so good. So many laughs, a few tears, but mostly the laughs.
So when you’re the best man AND the groom’s brother, your speech is bound to bring out some skeletons in the closet. And this one did not disappoint. Abbreviated version: years ago, the groom tried to cover up a dent in mom’s car until she drove it to the park and ride the next day. When she drove home after work and noticed the dent, Matt was quick to blame it on someone in the parking lot that must have hit her. Nothing like ratting out your brother at his own wedding!
Congratulations to this crazy elegant bride and groom on the most perfect fall wedding at the Museum of Nature. They don’t get much better than this!
