It wasn’t the wedding they had dreamed of, but it was perfect just the same. Lauren and Matt were supposed to be married last year at Restaurant Eighteen and then postponed to this year. But, Covid had other plans. They landed on the groom’s family backyard, and an intimate ceremony with their parents and aunt. It was the perfect Sunday afternoon wedding, and the best way to start their lives off as husband and wife.

Currently, weddings are limited to 10 people, ceremony only. As the long weekend approached, the Provincial government announced that gatherings of up to 5 people, outside of your household, was permitted outdoors. After multiple emails to bylaw, specifically asking if this pertained to photographers shooting outdoors, we were given the green light. So I took the opportunity to sneak out into this amazing forest of a backyard for a few portraits with the bride and groom before heading home.

It’s definitely going to be another weird wedding season, but I’m kinda into these smaller, more intimate elopements. They’re so full of heart, so full of love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the couples who’ve chosen to move forward with a wedding and including me in it!

Stay tuned for a little cottage reception with these two in a few months! Can’t wait to celebrate again!
