When you show up to a newborn session, you never know how it’s going to go. It’s always so unpredictable. Even when you try to plan ahead, it almost always doesn’t go the way you had hoped. Babies cry, need to fed, changed, loved. And when you’re trying to take pictures during all of these things, it can definitely be time consuming.
I make it a point of telling families that I am SO happy to just camp out at their home until we get the photos that we had hoped for. If mom is stressed, baby will inevitably feel that something is up. So it’s really important for me to make families feel that there isn’t a huge rush, that it’s ok to take time to feed and change your little guy, and to just give him some love when he needs to cuddle up with someone.
And that’s totally what we did with this little man. He wasn’t fussy or anything, but was wide awake, even after a few feedings. While I always hope to get a few photos of them looking at the camera, most families also hope for those cute little sleeping babies. Luckily, he tired himself out and we managed to get both! Here’s a look into Leo’s newborn session a few weeks back. I just saw him yesterday and can’t believe how much he has grown since – another reason to invest in newborn photos – they will NEVER be that tiny again!
