It was the most perfect day for this winter wedding at Strathmere Lodge in Ottawa. We probably could have used a bit more snow to really sell the fact that it was truly ‘winter’, but I’m not complaining! It could have been -20 and ridiculously unpleasant outside, making it impossible for us to have the ceremony outdoors and take photos for more than 2 minutes at a time. So yay!

My day started off with the girls at the Schoolhouse, where they were getting their hair and makeup done.

The amazing Leah Van Camp was getting everyone’s hair beautified. I’ve never worked with Leah before, but I hope to again – she was awesome.

Okay, so this fishbowl…the best inside joke at a wedding ever. The groom was really adamant about having fishbowls as centerpieces for the wedding, but the bride had to talk him out of it. He was still talking about it come the wedding day, so the bride’s sister got him a fishbowl with a goldfish in it and left it at the head table for him to see at the wedding reception. Hilarious.

I walked in to see my gorgeous gal Lyz Plant doing makeup on these bridesmaids and instantly was 100% more excited to photograph these girls today. Lyz did my makeup back when I had portraits taken by Alexa Mazzarello. She did a great job on my not so great skin, so I knew these girls would look flawless which makes my job a million times easier!

Ok, and also, these shoes. Wow.

I love when brides give their fathers a little gift on the wedding day. This one was a tearjerker for sure.

The bride’s dress was from Kleinfelds. Check out how beautiful this dress looks on Kaytie!

Clearly her girls agree she belongs in a fairy tale. This is one of my favourite moments from the day.

Afterwards, I popped over to the guys who were getting suited up before the ceremony. Jordan was cool, calm and collected.

No wedding day is complete without a little Five Guys burger before the ceremony. The. Best.

How handsome are these dudes?! They were so much fun to work with.

Fun fact: not only was it Jordan and Kaytie’s wedding day, but it was also Kaytie’s birthday. Jordan won’t ever forget their anniversary!

SO happy we got to do their winter wedding at the Strathmere Lodge outdoors – it was so perfect!

You might remember these two from a proposal I photographed in the Byward Market two summers ago. The bride and groom met in teachers college at the University of Ottawa, so it was only fitting they tie the knot in Ottawa too.

The beautiful thing about a winter wedding is that the light is usually perfection when it comes time for photos. And in this case, it didn’t disappoint.

We popped into The Inn to warm up and take some photos before the wedding reception. We had the whole place to ourselves…magical.

Congratulations to this amazing couple on the most perfect day. I am so honoured to have been part of it.
